Qatar Airways cancels A380 flights to Singapore in 2027

Qatar Airways has removed nearly all planned Airbus A380 services between Doha and Singapore from its March 2027 summer schedule, replacing the 517-seat superjumbo with the smaller A350-900. Only one A380 flight remains listed, for April 5, 2027, while London Heathrow gains extra A380 capacity.

Key Takeaways

Travelers chasing premium long-haul cabins—and readers who follow luxury real estate and dream homes in Asia’s priciest markets—should note that Singapore loses Qatar’s double-decker capacity even as the city remains a magnet for high-end living.

What happened to Qatar Airways’ Singapore A380 plans?

Until a recent schedule update, Simple Flying reported that Qatar Airways planned A380s from March 2027 on four routes from Doha: Bangkok, Paris Charles de Gaulle, London Heathrow, and Singapore Changi.

The airline has now pulled the A380 from its Singapore schedule. Cirium data cited by Simple Flying shows more than 2,800 Qatar Airways A380 flights booked between November 2026 and September 2027 across its eight-jet fleet, but Singapore will not be a regular part of that plan.

Qatar Airways only began flying the 517-seat A380 on Doha–Singapore earlier in 2026, with a handful of flights in January and February. The last tracked service of the type ran on February 28. A September return was delayed to late March 2027, then largely cancelled.

Flights such as QR948 (Doha 3:05 a.m. to Singapore 3:45 p.m.) and QR947 (Singapore 7:40 p.m. to Doha 10:40 p.m.) are now listed on the 283-seat A350-900. That swap cuts about 234 seats versus the three-class A380 (eight first, 48 business, 461 economy). The carrier still offers two to three daily Doha–Singapore flights, mainly on A350-900s, with occasional A350-1000 and Boeing 777-300ER flying.

Where else is Qatar Airways moving its A380s?

Capacity appears to shift toward London. Before Singapore was cut, Qatar Airways had one daily Heathrow A380; filings now show two daily A380s. From November, schedules include up to 11 weekly A380s to Bangkok and one daily to Paris CDG, though Paris has no A380s listed for April or May 2027.

Network cuts extend beyond Singapore. Regular A380 flying to Perth and Sydney has stopped versus last year. A planned October 25 return to Guangzhou was dropped; that route keeps the 412-seat 777-300ER instead. Overall 2026 A380 schedules are down versus 2025.

Will Singapore still see Airbus A380 flights?

Yes—just not regularly from Qatar Airways. From November, five airlines are still set to fly A380s into Changi: British Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qantas, and Singapore Airlines. Etihad is due to resume Singapore A380s on December 16. British Airways recently returned the type.

In a typical week next summer, Changi is expected to average about 16 daily A380 departures, with Singapore Airlines accounting for roughly half on routes including Auckland, Delhi, Mumbai, London, Frankfurt, and Sydney.

Passengers who wanted Qatar Airways first class on the A380 should recheck aircraft type before travel: the A350-900 layout cited for Singapore has no first cabin. Schedules remain subject to change.
