Injured Hayden Panettiere was taken out on gurney twice, neighbor says

Injured Hayden Panettiere was taken out of her Los Angeles apartment on a gurney by firefighters on two occasions while she lived with Brian Hickerson, neighbor Mia Terrazas told Page Six in an exclusive interview. Terrazas said she saw bruises and bright red spots on the late actress, who often looked battered during that period.

The claims add new detail to the public record around Panettiere's years-long, on-off relationship with Hickerson, which included multiple domestic violence allegations, arrests and criminal pleas. Page Six reviewed evidence that appears to corroborate the dates Terrazas provided. For more developing stories, see our Celebrity Breaking News hub.

Key Takeaways

What did Hayden Panettiere's neighbor witness at the LA apartment?

Terrazas, who still lives at the same West Hollywood complex, told Page Six she observed bright red spots and bruises on Panettiere during the period she shared the unit with Hickerson. It appeared that she had been beaten up, Terrazas said. It was not apparent to me that it could have been anything else.

During the July 2023 incident, Terrazas said she asked Panettiere on the gurney whether she was OK. The Heroes star allegedly replied, Yes. Koneru, who lived with her mother at the time, told Page Six she witnessed the 2024 incident as well. Both women said they tried to raise concerns with responding firefighters both times.

Terrazas also claimed she often heard muffled, hostile arguments from Panettiere's unit and once heard the actress screaming at Hickerson in the elevator: Just leave me alone! Just stop! Reps for the Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 7 did not respond to Page Six's request for comment.

When were the two gurney incidents at Panettiere's West Hollywood home?

According to Terrazas, firefighters removed Panettiere from the building on a gurney on July 29, 2023, and again on January 16, 2024. Page Six reported that it reviewed evidence appearing to corroborate those dates.

On both occasions, Terrazas claimed Hickerson, 37, was present and glued to Panettiere. She said she called the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department quite a few times to report Hickerson at the complex despite an active protective order granted to Panettiere in 2021. That order expired in April 2025.

Reps for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department did not respond to Page Six's request for comment. Terrazas said deputies removed Hickerson from the property at least once, but she saw him back the next day.

What is Brian Hickerson's history with Panettiere?

Panettiere and Hickerson's relationship, which began in 2018, was marked by repeated allegations of domestic violence. In July 2020, Los Angeles prosecutors filed an eight-count case against Hickerson. He pleaded no contest in April 2021 to two felony counts of injuring a spouse or cohabitant and was sentenced to 45 days in jail, four years of probation and domestic violence classes.

Panettiere and Hickerson flew to South Carolina together the Saturday before her death. She died the following day of a suspected overdose at an Airbnb in Greenville, according to the Greenville County Coroner's Office. The autopsy found no signs of trauma that would have contributed to the death, though the investigation remains active pending toxicology results.

Hickerson's attorney declined to comment on Terrazas's neighbor claims when reached by Page Six. Panettiere's rep said: While an investigation is ongoing and further developments are coming to light, we are confident that justice will soon be served.
