COL Group, Virtue Asia unveil Inside Microdramas upfront
COL Group, Virtue Asia and V47 Entertainment have unveiled Inside Microdramas, billed as the first upfront built around microdramas and vertical entertainment. The Singapore gathering on Oct. 27 is meant to pull brands into creator-led IP earlier, with slate previews and one-on-one greenlight talks.
According to Variety, the partners position the day as a marketplace for short-form storytelling and the wider vertical entertainment business. Organizers expect senior executives from entertainment, advertising, tech, platforms and consumer brands.

What is Inside Microdramas and why does it matter?
Inside Microdramas is billed as the first upfront centered on microdramas and vertical entertainment. Organizers draw a clear line between the two ideas.
Microdrama, they say, is a specific short-form, serialized storytelling format. Vertical entertainment is broader. It spans scripted series, reality and factual shows, creator-driven content, interactive narratives, commerce tie-ins and branded IP shaped for phone viewing.
That framing matters because the pitch is not only more bite-size episodes. It is about how stories are funded, distributed and watched as mobile becomes the primary screen.
Who is behind the Singapore upfront?
COL Group builds digital entertainment and technology products, including the FlareFlow vertical drama app. Virtue Asia is a strategic and creative agency whose clients include Disney, Google, Spotify, Toyota, Diageo and Shiseido.
V47 Entertainment was formed by Virtue Asia and Goldfinch International, the international growth arm of the U.K.’s Goldfinch Group. Goldfinch has backed more than 200 film and TV projects and put $300 million into production.
Timothy Oh, general manager, international, at COL Group, said microdramas are “the first signal of a much bigger shift” in how entertainment is created, distributed, funded and consumed. David Webster, chair of V47 Entertainment, argued the next wave of branded entertainment comes from bringing brands, creators and producers together at the start.
What will attendees see on the agenda?
The program theme is Inside the Business, Culture and Future of Entertainment’s Fastest-Growing Format. It mixes panels, brand viewpoints, cross-sector debate, project previews and dedicated partnership meetings.
COL Group opens with The New Rules of Attention, on how microdramas are changing how stories get made and watched. Virtue Asia presents Why Brands Need Entertainment, Not More Content. V47 hosts Are Brands Becoming the New Studios?, on funding and distribution economics.
The centerpiece, First Look: The 2027 Slate, will preview creator-led IP and original vertical concepts from COL Group and V47 Entertainment. Some 10 projects will be shown to prospective brand partners before they are fully financed or produced. Guests then move into Greenlight Sessions with project teams on commissions, financing, distribution and co-development.
Venue, speaker lineup and fuller slate details are expected in the coming weeks.
